No bail for 3 Taiwanese in drug raid
MANILA, Philippines - Assistant City Prosecutor Vicente Francisco has not recommended any bail for the three Taiwanese nationals caught in possession of P275 million worth of shabu and raw materials during a raid at a posh subdivision Wednesday.
He also ordered to have suspects Peng Jyun Jiun, 19, Chen Hu Min, 27, and Eugene Chong, 24, charged with possession, sale and manufacture of illegal drugs.
Chief Inspector Robert Razon, head of the regional anti-illegal drugs unit of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), said the three Taiwanese have not yet hired a lawyer.
“They refuse to cooperate in our investigation. We are still in the process of determining the drug syndicate they belong to and the extent of their operation in Metro Manila and nearby provinces,” Razon said in an interview.
NCRPO chief Director Joel Pagdilao said they would invite for questioning the owner of the house at the posh Ayala Alabang subdivision which the Taiwanese rented for P140,000 a month.
The arrest of the three Taiwanese came a day after the NCRPO seized at least 50 kilos of raw materials in a van abandoned at the parking area of a mall in Pasay City.
Pagdilao said the seized chemicals are intended for delivery to the three Taiwanese nationals.
