2 slain at wake in Caloocan

MANILA, Philippines - Two men reportedly involved in the illegal drug trade were gunned down at a wake in Caloocan City yesterday morning.

Jimmy Jimenez, 40, and Ryan Bantilan, 21, were talking with Froilan Molino at a wake in Barangay 38 when two men on a motorcycle drove up and shot at them at around 8:25 a.m., said Senior Police Officer 4 Joel Montebon.

Jimenez died on the way to the Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center from a gunshot to the head while Bantilan died while being treated at the Caloocan City Medical Center.

Police recovered three .45 caliber shells at the scene.

Jimenez had served time on a drug charge and was released recently, Montebon said.
