Fire hits Chiz office

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A fire broke out at the media extension office of Sen. Francis “Chiz” Escudero in Quezon City yesterday morning.

The blaze reportedly started at Room 2016 of the 22-story President Tower building at past 10 a.m.

The fire reached first alarm and caused P40,000 in structural damages.

The blaze may have been caused by an overheated air conditioner, said city fire marshall Superintendent Jesus Fernandez.

No persons were hurt in the incident.

Meanwhile, a fire of still undetermined origin broke out at a warehouse in Barangay Tonsuya, Malabon Wednesday night.

Witnesses said several explosions were heard before the blaze engulfed the warehouse, where surplus appliances were kept, at past 8 p.m.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said the fire reached third alarm before it was put out shortly before 10 p.m.

Television sets, air conditioners, vaults and other appliances were destroyed, according to arson investigators.

The BFP said no one was in the warehouse when the fire broke out and no casualties were reported.
