Indian printing firm denies being blacklisted

MANILA, Philippines - India-headquartered Madras Security Printers Private Ltd. (MSP), a company that provides security printing services, has denied reports that it has been blacklisted by the government of India to bid for government projects.

MSP has never been debarred or blacklisted by any government agency, including the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), it said in a letter.

 “We are currently doing UIDAI enrolments for various projects and are one of the largest enrolment agencies of the UIDAI for the National Population Register and various other government projects,” said Asir Ratan Singh, MSP director.

The Action for Consumerism and Transparency for Nation Building, a local consumer group, has claimed that the Indian company is barred from participating in biddings in its own country but has managed to operate in the Philippines and that a court order has blacklisted the firm in India. 

But MSP said there was no such order.

MSP said the judge of the Patna High Court has clearly noted that “mere non-renewals of empanelment of the appellant by the UIDAI as an enrolled agency would not amount to debarment or blacklisting.”
