BIR warns vs fake taxman

MANILA, Philippines - The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) warned the public yesterday that a fake revenue officer has been collecting money from business establishments at various malls in Manila.

In a statement, the BIR said a revenue officer can only check an establishment’s compliance with bookkeeping rules and regulations and visits by a revenue officer should be covered by mission orders signed by the regional director.

The bureau advised business owners to report fake revenue officers by calling the BIR office at telephone numbers 518-0604 or 518-0651.
