Jodi eyed as model for Kasambahay Law

MANILA, Philippines - Actress Jodi Sta. Maria, who portrays the lead character of household service worker (HSW) Maya dela Rosa in the popular drama series “Be Careful with My Heart,” is being eyed by the government to be the poster model for the implementation of the Kasambahay Law.

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the International Labor Organization (ILO) are still negotiating with Sta. Maria, Labor Undersecretary Rebecca Chato said yesterday.

“The ILO is the one developing the Kasambahay Law information materials and now talking with Maya (Sta. Maria) because the DOLE does not have enough fund,” Chato said in an interview.

In the drama series, Sta. Maria is 25-year-old Maya, a promdi who opted to work as a housemaid to help her family financially and to study to pursue her dream of becoming a flight attendant.
