PNP crime laboratory conducts one more autopsy on boy’s body

Flor Z. Perolina - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - The medico-legal of the PNP Crime Laboratory-7 has again autopsied the body of a three-year-old boy who was found dead at a grassy field at the North Reclamation Area in Mandaue City last January 11 for the reason that the boy’s mother does not believe the finding that her son died from snake bites.

She said she has a feeling her son’s death was a retaliation for the rape of a three-year-old girl.

The result of the re-autopsy conducted by Dr. Nestor Sator last Saturday showed that the child died due to a” blunt traumatic injuries to the head” but his finding is still pending until such time a histo-pathological examination is conducted.

He said he had noticed an injury in the boy’s head but did not consider it “fatal” considering that he did not see any “blood clot” in the boy’s brain when he conducted the first autopsy last January 12.

In order to confirm his findings and to rule out other possibilities, tissues from the boy’s brain and his lungs were taken during the re-autopsy for a histopath examination.

But a histopath examination will take time since the PNP-Crime Laboratory-7 does not have the capability to do it here and the evidence still needs to be brought to the PNP Crime Laboratory in Camp Crame.

And the evidence should be brought not just by anybody but someone from his department, Sator said.

Sator said the conclusion arrived at last week which stated that the boy could have died from a “snake bite” remains due to the presence of two puncture wounds on his left jaw.

Since result of the re-autopsy shows there was “foul play,” the police will now pursue with its investigation to see if “vengeance” was involved.

Homicide chief P/Insp. Ramil Morpos said the result of the investigation will determine whether the death was connected to the rape case filed against the boy’s father who was arrested last December 26.

The boy’s father is currently detained at the Mandaue City Jail.

The place where the boy’s body was found was also near the place where the three-year-old girl was raped. (FREEMAN)
