MANILA, Philippines - Six generals were affected by the latest revamp in the Philippine National Police (PNP) following the retirement of the No. 2 man in the police organization.

Reshuffled were Deputy Director General Ramon Apolinario; Directors Fernando Mendez Jr., Archie Francisco Gamboa and Ramon Purruganan; and Senior Superintendents Rene Aspera and Joel Garcia.

PNP chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa said the move was triggered by the retirement of Deputy Director General Francisco Uyami who reached the age of 56 recently.

Apolinario took over Uyami’s post as deputy chief for administration. Mendez was designated deputy director for operations.

Gamboa is the chief of the directorial staff while Purruganan heads the Directorate for Comptrollership. Aspera was named chief of the Directorate for Personnel and Records Management. Garcia was designated chief of the Police Security Protection Group.

Dela Rosa has approved the reorganization of senior officals occupying key positions in the PNP command group and directorial staff as part of regular movement in the police force.
