Teen attacks Manila enforcer over seized trike

Ghio Ong - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A 17-year-old tricycle driver punched an enforcer of the Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau (MTPB) during a clearing operation last Monday, according to a police report.

Reymond Matillano, 41, and other members of the MTPB were clearing Quiricada street of illegally parked vehicles, including the tricycle of Virgilio Rivera, the Manila Police District’s Sta. Cruz station reported last Friday.

When the seized tricycles were chained and about to be brought to the impounding area at the Central Market, Rivera asked Matillano to return his tricycle.

Matillano referred the boy to the MTPB team leader, but Rivera became hysterical and punched Matillano.

The teen was taken to the police station. He faces charges of slight physical injury and direct assault.
