Descendants of Antonio Alonso-Juana Arambulo family of Asturias, Cebu

CEBUPEDIA - Clarence Paul Oaminal - Banat

Don Eugenio Alonso, the father of Asturias was the son of spouses Antonio Alonso and Juana Arambulo. The couple originally came from Tondo, Manila. Don Antonio believed to be a relative of Teodora Alonso, the mother of national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal.

It was Don Eugenio fondly called as Tan Genio (short for Capitan Eugenio) was the one who suggested that the new pueblo, called then as Hagjalin to be called as Asturias. It was in memory of a Spanish Bishop friend from the Province of Asturias, Spain.

Don Eugenio, the first child of the couple married Eduvejes Noel of the Noel clan from Carcar, Cebu. The Alonso-Noel couple bore three sons, who became public officials. Jose Alonso married Crispiniana Reyes. They then had five offspring: Eugenio Alonso married Milagros Osmeña, Adelina Alonso married Gregorio Yrastorza, Anunsacion Alonso married Juan Alburo, Leonardo Alonso married Dr. Jesus Paras and Nestor Alonso married Isabel.

The second child of Don Eugenio and Doña Eduvejes Noel by the name of Tomas married Asuncion Medalle. Then Tomas Alonso sired the following: Francisco (married Mercedes Valencia), Tomas Alonso Jr., Leonila Trazo, Jose Trazo and Silverio Dalogdog. Then the third child, Antonio Alonso married Carmen Corrales.

They had three children: Leonarda, Mercedes and Nicolas.

The fourth child of Don Antonio and Doña Juana was named Catalina Alonso who married Pedro Manuel. The Alonso and Manuel marriage produced five children: Martina Manuel married Condrado Aliviado, Emigidio Manuel married Graciana Torion (the Manuel-Torion had the following children: Clara, Generoso (married Trinidad Gonzalez), Dominador (married Macaria More), Silverio (married Echoperanza Trazo), Roberta (married Antonio Nardo), Pedro (married Benedicta Rodriguez), Ana (married Paulo Beltran), Cresencia (married Gabriel Delfin). The third child of Emigidio and Graciana was Marta who married Fabian Aguanta. The fourth child, Adolfo Manuel married Felicima Ybanez then the fifth child Pacencia Alonso married Celestino Estrella. The recorded of history of Asturias and its lineage is the result of the painstaking work of Pedro T. Manuel who came up with a book released in 2002.

(Note: In the article entitled Mayor Dominador T. Manuel, September 21, 2016, it was erroneously written that the wife of Dominador was Echoperanza Trazo instead of Macaria More. It was Silverio, the Chief of Police and Councilor who married Echoperanza Trazo. The author extends its deepest apologies to the mix up, thanks to Atty. Silverio T. Manuel Jr., son of Silverio and Echoperanza for the correction.)
