The new president’s speech

SPEECH. Listening to President Rodrigo Duterte's inaugural speech yesterday, an employee of a regional office of a government agency was overheard as saying that the new president uttered no big promises compared to past presidents.

WISDOM. The same employee said the new president recorgnized the wisdom of American leaders like US presidents Franklin Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln, about leadership, that he quoted these two great men's words.

COMMITMENT. What struck this employee the most was Duterte's firm commitment to the fight against corruption and illegal drugs which, the new president said, are "the real problems that confront us."
