Political "trolls" in Facebook

POLITICS. Political supporters of Mayor Mike Rama and former congressman Tomas Osmeña are very active in Facebook. Some supporters of either Rama or Osmeña would defend their patron and destroy the other. This is a democracy at work in the social media, said an informer of The Ear.

NO CURATION. The same informer however said the supporters have been quarreling in Facebook, with some have already using harsh and foul words, without Facebook or the account owner performing "content curation."

ATTACK DOG. Worse, said the informer, there are supporters who utilize troll accounts – account whose owners utilize a name other than his own in Facebook. These troll accounts, which are reportedly owned by the politician's own communication group, are said to have destroyed the sanctity of political debate because these are the accounts who harass, pester, annoy, or worse, attack other Facebook users who would criticize their boss.
