2012 MMFF grosses P108.6M on 1st day

MANILA, Philippines - Last year, the annual Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) took P630 million during the official 15-day run.

Will it hit this year’s P700M-gross target?

When it opened on Dec. 25, the 2012 MMFF raked in P108.6M from the eight official entries, the “unofficial” ranking of which follows (including the respective box-office receipts):

Sisterakas — P40.7M

Si Agimat, Si Enteng Kabisote at Si Ako — P31M

One More Try — P13.4M

Entertainment ( Article MRec ), pagematch: 1, sectionmatch: 1

Shake, Rattle & Roll 14: The Invasion — P10.7M

The Strangers — P4.9M

El Presidente — P4.2M

Sosy Problems — P2.8M

Thy Womb — P911,000

This year’s MMFF runs until Jan. 8, 2013. The ranking is expected to change (only a bit) after the Gabi ng Parangal Awards tonight at the Meralco Theater.

The MMFF was ushered in by the showing of five New Wave films from Dec. 17 to 24.

Sosy Problems is an awesome comedy movie! I never thought that these 4 lovely and sexy ladies can do comedy. I thought only the not so good looking ones or the animal-looking ones are the ones that can do comedy. Gone are the days that comedians are only not so good looking people. This movie also shows that even rich people can be ignorant and their ignorance can be a funny experience too. My unforgettable part of the movie is when they try to boil water. Find out what they use in boiling water. Funny.

Im so sad with the results, meaning there are so many of us, so stupid and dumb watching this kind of film. nothing but all gay trash jokes. worthless UNFUNNY. Does some us ( philipino) really knows what is a great film? i missed those movies with great artistry. nowadays new generation prefer to watch those slap-sticks comedy , with infamous gay joke dialogue, stereo-type corny scenes. bingo! we have a blockbuster movie. - meanwhile im hoping for this year MMFF will be a good year for great films and educate us at the same time. what i wanted to see is, - a well made film with great performances, awesome cinematography, an inspiring story , how everything unfolds, includes the dialogue and symbolism complemented by camerawork. Realism, leaves an impression on me at the end of it.

gaya ng sinabi ko, papatayin ko ang anak kung babae - gagamitan ko ng martilyo - ipokpok ko sa ulo kaysa makita ko cyang gumagaya na parang bakla. kilos bakla, salitang bakla! hindi ko pinalaki kong anak ko para maging babaeng BAKLA! tapos ang Movie na ito - ang gusto nyo - mga chipipay kayo! BASURANG PELIKULA! PARA SA MGA MABABAW ang UTAK! mga BOBO! yes, kaya ang daming bagong graduate dyan sa atin pero walang LAMAN ANG UTAK!
