Town in Biliran promotes waterfalls as tourism site

Primo A. Cayubit - The Freeman

CABUCGAYAN, BILIRAN, Philippines —The local government unit of Cabucgayan town in Biliran is promoting the waterfalls here as one of its tourists’ attractions.

Mayor Edwin Masbang told The Freeman that the Kasabangan Falls, which has 13 layers up into the mountain top, continues to draw local and foreign tourists, thus his office is now drawing up plans to fully develop the site for tourism purposes.

Masbang said he is now seeking and appealing for assistance from the provincial government of Biliran, the Department of Tourism, and other concerned agencies for the improvement of the facilities around the falls.

The mayor said that he is optimistic that more local and foreign tourists will visit Kasabangan Falls when its tourism potentials are fully developed, and it will give more revenues to the LGU.

Cabucgayan is a fifth-class town with a total land area of 54.19 square kilometers. It has 13 barangays with a population of 20,788, based on the 2015 census. (FREEMAN)
