Speedfest gets green light

CEBU, Philippines - The city government of Cebu under the leadership of Mayor Tomas Osmeña has green-lighted the 2017 Cebu City Speedfest tomorrow at the back portion of Lantaw and Il Corso in South Road Properties.

Around a hundred motorcycle riders from Cebu and other parts of the region are expected to show up in the race organized by the Mallari Racing Development led by Bryan Mallari is an effort to eliminate illegal drag racing activities in this side of the country.

It the third of such kind spearheaded by Mallari. The first was the Lapu-Lapu City Motorcycle Race last December and then the 1st Mayor Eddie Gullas Cup in Talisay City last May.

Tomorrow’s adrenaline-pumping action backed up by SWR and FDR features seven categories:180 automatic open( SWR size 32), 160 open automatic (SWR 30), 160 stock head (SWR 26), 160 stock head/59 bore stoke, 130 2-valve underbone open (SWR 28), 150 4-valve underbone (SWR 26), drag queen 160 automatic and drag queen 160 automatic stockhead (SWR 26).

The event also serves as a qualifying round for the Philippine Drag Racing Championships in Manila later this year. The best performing riders in the national battle will represent Phl in an international drag race in Thailand. (FREEMAN)
