Worthy-UV seeks 3-0 start

Rudy Andal - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - The Worthy-University of the Visayas Green Lancers shoot for the solo lead as they go up against the Mighty Sports/University of San Jose-Recoletos Jaguars in the 8th Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI) Partner's Cup today at the Cebu Coliseum.

The streaking Lancers will face off with the Jaguars at 7 p.m., right after the opening battle between the Cebu Landmasters/University of San Carlos Warriors and Highlands Corned Beef/University of Cebu Webmasters at 5:15 p.m.

Coming off back-to-back wins against USC and Tyron Properties/University of Southern Philippines Foundation Panthers, the Lancers currently share the lead with Phinma/Southwestern University Cobras on identical 2-0 records.

Coach Gary Cortes will once again count on the likes of Rey Suerte, Josue Segumpan, Michael Macion, Jason Balabag and Jerome Napao as they bid to keep UV's unbeaten slate.

For the Jaguars, they pin their hopes on Jaybee Mantilla, Ralph Dinolan, Jiguel Gastador, Ricky Peromingan and Nelvin Navarra as they to try back on the winning track.

On the other hand, the Warriors and the Webmasters lock up each other's horns with eyes on breaking 1-1 deadlock that binds them along with the Jaguars and My Led Opto/Cebu Institute of Technology-University Wildcats. — EBV (FREEMAN)
