Minor shot dead in cemetery

CEBU, Philippines - A 17-year-old boy was killed by five unidentified assailants inside the Chinese Cemetery in barangay Carreta, Cebu City, yesterday morning around 4 a.m.

The fatality was identified as Mark Joseph Barrientos, a resident of F. Villa St., barangay T. Padilla.

He was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds lying above a tomb.

Policemen said their investigation revealed that the victim was just sleeping in the said place when five unidentified assailants went to where he was and made fun of him before shooting him.

They also found out that the assailants used different guns to kill the victim before they fled from the area.

Police officers recovered eight shells of unknown caliber from the crime scene.

PO3 Geoffrey Gutual of Cebu City Police Office Homicide Section said they even suspect one of the assailants used an improvised shotgun to kill the victim.

They also believe that the assailants are members of a certain gang called the Crips, but they are not yet certain if this particular incident is a fraternity- or gang-related incident. — Christopher Gabriel Bonjoc/BRP (THE FREEMAN)
