Heavy equipment operators to fix Talisay’s potholes
CEBU, Philippines — Heavy equipment operators in Talisay City have vowed to temporarily patch up the potholes on the city's roads beginning today, as the local government is still in the process of appropriating funds for the paving of affected roads next year.
Talisay City Mayor Eduardo Gullas had earlier said that large potholes on some roads are partly caused by big trucks and heavy equipment passing along these roads.
Gullas is referring to roads mostly in Barangays Dumlog, Poblacion, Cansojong, Tanke and Pooc.
Last Tuesday, Gullas met with eight heavy equipment operators based in the city to discuss the problem.
Gullas requested the operators to help the city patch up the holes temporarily, which the operators agreed to do.
The mayor assured that this is a just a temporary fix, adding that he is appropriating funds for road paving projects for next year.
“Kining ato band aid pa ni ha kay kawang man lang kay madaot man lang gihapon tungod sa panahon nga ting-uwan paman,” Gullas said.
Out of the eight operators, one is based in Barangay Mohon while the remaining seven are based in Barangay Dumlog. Gullas added that after the roads are fixed next year, if these will be destroyed again by big trucks and heavy equipment passing through, the operators themselves will have to shoulder all the expenses for further paving.
