LTFRB apprehends four Angkas drivers
CEBU, Philippines — The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB)-7 yesterday amplified its warning to all Angkas operators to refrain from engaging in a business that they are not authorized to do by arresting the violators.
LTFRB-7 operatives yesterday apprehended four Angkas drivers and their motorcycle would be impounded for violating the government agency’s prohibition.
Apprehended Angkas drivers were Ramel Verano of Barangay Kinasang-an, Cebu City; Japed Salimas of Tisa; Leo Geraldizo of Sambag Uno; and Adonis Rey Tampus of Dumlog, Talisay City.
Each of the four drivers were slapped with a P6,000 penalty for being a “colorum” vehicle.
LTFRB-7 Head Ahmed Cuizon said that Angkas has no authority to operate as a Transport Network Company and its members are only pretending as Transport Network Vehicle operators.
"Just like any other business that needs government authorization to operate, Angkas must first be authorized as a legal entity before it can undertake legitimate operations," Cuizon said.
The LTFRB had earlier issued an order for the closure of Angkas operations nationwide. (FREEMAN)
