CEBU, Philippines — Policemen from Cebu City and the province are already prepared for the observance of the All Souls' and Saints' Days.

Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) Director Joel Doria said they are 100 percent ready for the annual observation that normally starts at the end of October.

He said there are about 1000 policemen and force multipliers that would be deployed in the different cemeteries in the city.

Doria said they are now just waiting for the dates to strategically deploy the cops in places where the public is expected to converge.

"Hundred percent na po tayo prepared na, and hinihintay na lang po natin ay yung actual date tapos deployment," Doria said.

Just like last year, there would be policemen who will be assigned in the assistance desks while the rest of them would given different assignments.

"Aside sa police assistance desk, meron tayong mag-roroving tapos may mga covert din.  Tapos, kasama na ang force multiplier," Doria said.

He reminded the public not to bring bags in order not to delay the inspection and not to bring alcoholic drinks, bladed weapons, and other prohibited objects.

"Ganon pa rin yung may mga bag mas maganda wag na lang magdala.  Maabala sila kasi sisitahin sa check yan.  At the same time, bawal nakalalasing na inumin.   Yong mga bladed weapon sharp objects, ganun last year same din," Doria said.

Doria said the challenge this year is that the public have to go through a possible difficult weather condition.

"Bagyo siguro, kung meron.  Yun lang ang magiging problema, kasi mahihirapan ang mga kababayan natin.  So far, wala tayong threat report na-received," Doria said.

Meanwhile, Cebu Provincial Police Office Operations-in-Charge Superintendent Jaime Quicho, in place of the provincial director Senior Superintendent Edgar Allan Okubo, said they are expecting an influx of people in the different cemeteries in the province.

He said that all personnel will already be deployed to secure the cemeteries starting Oct. 28.

"In place naman lahat ng security preparation nila (provincial police stations).   Considering that we are on high-alert status during the Kalag-Kalag, we expect the full deployment. Lahat ng personnel will be involved," Quicho said. —/GAN (FREEMAN)
