12 Cebu grads top exam for chem technicians

CEBU, Philippines — Twelve graduates from Cebu universities made it to the Top 10 of the October 2017 board exams for chemical technicians.

A graduate of Cebu Institute of Technology-University led 720 passers in this year’s licensure exam.

Diamond Jeff Paug finished first place with a rating of 92.50 percent.

Paug is joined in the top 10 by two other CIT-U students Karlen Joseph dela Cruz Genosa (2nd) and Rossano Balansag Bualat (5th).

Nine other graduates from Cebu-based schools made it to the Top 10: Six from the University of San Carlos, and three from the Cebu Normal University.

The USC students are Mark Ervin Ancot (3rd), Chad Monte Igot and Joyce Marian Belonguel (4th), Ruby Mae Salapi Mosot (5th), Cladette Cuenco Martinez (7th), and Marjon Tan Navida (9th).

Top passers from CNU are Joselito Reyes Tumulak Jr. (6th), and Kyle Jay Baguio Padilla (9th).

Friends, families, and colleagues congratulated Paug on Facebook for his achievement.

Paug, in a Facebook post, expressed his gratitude to God for his guidance.

He also thanked his well wishers. “Thank you guys, I really appreciate all your greetings,” he said.

Paug told The FREEMAN that he did not expect to top the licensure exam.

“Actually, I’m in total shock. I did not expect it to happen since there were a lot of (good) performers during the review,” he said.

The Professional Regulation Commission announced that 845 graduates took the test given in Manila, Cagayan de Oro, and Cebu earlier this month.

The exam results were released Wednesday night.

Graduates from University of the Philippines (UP)-Los Baños (Caryl Joy Esmeris), and Technological University of the Philippines (TUP)-Visayas (Razel Apante Jallorina) clinched the number two spot with 91 percent.

Janice Dinopol (Mindanao State University (MSU)-Marawi City), Welson Mendoza (UP-Diliman), Christopher Louis Orquiza (Philippine Normal University (PNU)-Manila) Jephrey Semine (MSU-Marawi City), and Wendy Tayson (Colegio San Agustin (CSA)-Bacolod City) shared the seventh spot with a score of 88.50 percent.

Anna Cariza Basilio (TUP-Taguig), Mary Rose Esclamada (TUP-Visayas), Anna Zarina Ladaga (Mapua Institute of Technology-Manila), Love Joy Piagola (University of Saint La Salle), and Manolito Ybañez Jr. (PNU-Manila)  landed in the eight spot with a rating of 88 percent.

TUP-Manila graduates Rey Joseph Ganado, Joshua Marikit, and Gilbert Miranda together with Krislyr Olmedo (TUP-Visayas) and Riann Martin Sarza (UP-Diliman) tied at ninth place.

Krizthel Lourdes Amanca (Palawan State University-Puerto Princesa), Joseph Ryan Lozada (UP-Iloilo City), Kurts Luoie Maglipas (MSU-Marawi City), Karlo Cesar Plasabas (Western Mindanao State University-Zamboanga City), and Justine Viernes (TUP-Manila) shared the tenth spot with a score of 87 percent.
