No bail for man nabbed with P3M worth of shabu

CEBU, Philippines — For allegedly possessing almost P3 million worth of suspected shabu, a 33-year-old man is facing charges before the Regional Trial Court.

Irefred “Titi” Caballero, a resident of Englis V. Rama, Barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City, was charged with violation of Section 11, Article II of Republic Act 9165 or Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 before the Office of the Cebu City Prosecutor.

In an inquest proceeding, Caballero, who was arrested last September 29, chose not to undergo further investigation to answer the allegations filed against him. Instead, he manifested to face the charges in court.

Prosecutor II Jill Ann Paculba-Gealon recommended no bail against Caballero.

In their joint-affidavit, Police Officers 2 Jerramel Cansancio and Malenche Bayawa of Police Station 9 alleged that in the afternoon of September 29, their station received information that a certain Titi was allegedly selling illegal drugs in his residence.

In coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-7, operatives of the Guadalupe Police Station conducted a buy-bust operation at around10 p.m. using P20,000 as buy-bust money, leading to the arrest of Caballero.

The police confiscated from Caballero a total of 226.61 grams of suspected shabu, valued at P2,778,900.

Meanwhile, three persons, including a son of a former Bureau of Jail and Management (BJMP) personnel, were arrested in separate buy-bust operations in Mandaue City Tuesday afternoon.

Brothers Mark Anthony Mondejar, 22, and Lyko Mondejar, 18, were arrested in Barangay Umapad past 5 p.m., said Police Chief Inspector Wilbert Parilla, head of the Mandaue Police Office (MCPO)-Station 5.

In Barangay Canduman, 43-year-old Arnold Jabas was also arrested in a buy-bust operation led by Senior Inspector Raymund Enriquez of MCPO-Station 6 just at the same time the Mondejar brothers were nabbed.

Aside from being a son of a former BJMP member, Jabas was alleged to be a member of the Sadaya Drug Group, which reportedly operates within Cebu province.

Parilla said at least six small sachets of suspected shabu were confiscated from the siblings.

Enriquez, on the other hand, said at least two sachets of shabu were seized from Jabas. (FREEMAN)
