Chinese fugitive caught at Mactan Airport

CEBU, Philippines - A fugitive Chinese national was transported back to China after the Bureau of Immigration agents at the Mactan Cebu International Airport (BI-MCIA) put her on travel hold for three days after she was denied admission into the Philippines.

Atty. Brando Enad, supervisor at BI-MCIA, said that Wenxin Fan, 45, arrived in Cebu on June 10 but it was found out that her name is listed in Interpol as a fugitive.

Enad said that during primary inspection, the Chinese presented her St. Kitts and Nevis passport bearing the name Wenxin Fan which bore a derogatory hit on their system.

Enad said that further inspection on Wenxin’s belongings yielded a Vietnamese passport with her likeness but bearing the name Troung An Lan. 

"Among duda kay nasayop ni siya og kuha sa iyang passport. Kay kung ang Vietnamese passport pa ang iyang gihatag, dili siya mahibaw-an kay ang naa sa among list ang Wenxin Fan man nga name, which is mao gyud ang iyang name," said Enad.

Enad said that Wenxin came from Cambodia then to Singapore before arriving in Cebu.

“Wala dayon siya na-deport pag abot niya kay di man siya kamao mo ininglis. Nangita pa mi og interpreter,” Enad said.

An interpreter from the Chinese Embassy gave assistance and the BI-MCIA team found that Wenxin is neither a Vietnamese nor a Cambodian nor a Singaporean citizen, but a Chinese national.

Chinese Interpol arrived in Cebu yesterday and took Wenxin back to China to face the charges of fraud lodged against her.

“Kaso man daw to sa yuta ang giatubang niya. Sa China daw kung naa kay kaso kabahin sa yuta kay big deal gyud na para nila because it can be considered as an economic sabotage. Naa pud siya’y warrant of arrest,” Enad added. (FREEMAN)
