Sara Duterte confirms ‘death’

DAVAO CITY, Philippines – Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio has played along with a fake news website that  reported that she has died.

“We regret to confirm the untimely demise of Inday Sara. It is truly sad for those who sincerely love her and a happy day for those who hate her guts,” Duterte-Carpio posted on her Facebook and Instagram accounts on Thursday afternoon.

Carpio also posted a screenshot of the fake website titled “News 360 CONFIRMED Davao City Mayor, Sara Duterte Dies After Short Illness.”

“Before she died she requested for a private wake for family members only. Please omit flowers and pray that she goes to heaven and not hell,” Carpio’s post read.

“She will be buried alongside nothing in her prepaid memorial lot in Davao City. Thank you,” it added.

The website reported that Sara is the daughter of “Philippian” leader Rodrigo Duterte. It said she died on Tuesday at the Southern Philippines Medical Center, where she was supposedly taken after complaining of chest pains.

It claimed that Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte confirmed the news of Carpio’s death. 

A statement was also attributed to Paolo on their family’s “shock” over his sister’s “sudden demise.”
