CEBU, Philippines - Cebu Governor Hilario Davide III has not yet secured authority from the Provincial Board to enter into a memorandum of agreement with the City of Cebu on the province-owned properties covered by SP Ordinance No. 93-1.

The MOA is reportedly set for signing on Wednesday as part of the activities lined up for the Urban Poor Solidarity Week celebration of the Cebu City government.

In today's calendar of business of the PB's regular session, Davide's letter dated November 29, 2016 requesting the board's authority is among the items to be taken up.

The Urban Poor Solidarity Week officially kicked off Saturday at the Cebu City Hall and was attended by over a thousand members of 200 homeowner associations from barangays Mabolo, Quiot, Luz, Pardo, Inayawan, T. Padilla, Lorega, and Kinasang-an, among others.

The 93-1 has long been a standing issue involving lots covered by Cebu Provincial Ordinance 93-1 occupied by the city residents.

Provincial Ordinance 93-1 took effect in 1993 which allows actual occupants to pay in full the prescribed amount within 10 years or until 2003.

It covers 51 hectares of land owned by the provincial government but are being occupied by the residents of Cebu City.

The 93-1 is sub-divided to at least 4,364 home lots in 11 barangays such as Kamputhaw, Capitol Site, Kalunasan, Busay, Luz, Lahug, Mabolo, Apas, Lorega, Kasambagan and Tejero. (FREEMAN)
