CHD returns pulled out meds to Barangay Apas

Odessa O. Leyson - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu City Health Department has returned to the health center of Barangay Apas the medicines it recently pulled out after conducting "inventory."

Yesterday afternoon, Kenneth Siasar, Cebu City Medical Center hospital administrator, who is also tasked to oversee other health services of the city, returned the medicines to Barangay Apas.

Siasar said giving back the pulled out medicines is part of their "post-inventory redistribution." Also, he said they have added more medicines, which means they gave a total of 5,000 assorted medicines to the barangay.

"Nipuno ta og amlodipin, losartan ug glicalzide for diabetic maintenance gihapon ni. For high blood and diabetic kay daghan mang resita sa doctor nga private nga naa diha sa Apas nga ang ilang kinahanglan kay losartan," he said.

CHD also replaced medicines expected to expire by February next year, but will distribute it to other barangays which has high demand for the assorted medicines.

Further, Siasar clarified that they pulled out medicines from all barangays so they can conduct an inventory to make sure there is equal distribution of medicine.

"Yes… Actually, I had a talk with Kap Ayuman. Ako sya giingnan nga ang imong gisulti nako sa newspaper nga I am a liar, I am true to my promise. Among giuli tanan, gipun-an pa gani namo unya gi-change namo ang katong mga expire na," he stressed.

Siasar also explained that an inventory of medicines in the barangays is conducted every year and nothing changes in the inventory process protocol.

"Pareha ra man. Kaso lang, sobra pa ni sya sa elections. Every time naay movement ang atong city government, mabutangan gyud og malisya nga politika," he further said.

In a separate interview with Apas Barangay Captain Ramil Ayuman, he said he is happy that CHD finally returned the medicines.

But until now, it's hard for him to believe that the medicines were pulled out for inventory purposes.

"Mao man ila rason pero nakadawat man gud kog text sa usa ka doctor nga para to sa program ni Osmeña, pero akong hatagan og benefit of the doubt, ang importante nauli," Ayuman added.

As to the filing of complaint against CHD, Ayuman said he still has to consult it with other affected barangays like Pardo, Inayawan, among others.

But Siasar said after Barangay Apas, their next target for the redistribution would be Barangays Pardo and Inayawan.

Inayawan Barangay Captain Lutherlee Ignacio-Soon earlier said she only knew of the pulling out of the medicines after she got a text message from a nurse that CHD took the medicines in their barangay health centers for the Long Life Medical Assistance program of the city mayor. (FREEMAN)
