Capitol’s 447th anniversary Agro Trade Fair to open tomorrow

CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu provincial government, through the Provincial Agriculture’s Office, has appropriated P200,000 for the Agro Trade Fair or “Tabo sa Kapitolyo” this year.

The trade fair will start August 1 and will last for a week, in time for the celebration of the 447th anniversary of the provincial government.

Roldan Saragena, chief of the Provincial Agriculture’s Office, said more than 30 local government units in the province and 25 private exhibitors will participate in the trade fair.

Also, this year, the Province of Bohol will also participate and will put up a booth for the display of its agri-products.

The Capitol is expecting more agricultural products from component cities and municipalities, such as organic products, ornamental, fruits and vegetables, handmade products and even delicacies to be displayed starting this Monday.

“We are expecting products coming from component local government units kon  unsay ila gyud matawag nato nga best, agri best nga ilang ma-display representing sa ilang lungsod,” Saragena said.

Saragena said there’s also a competition for the participating LGUs. The Capitol will be choosing the best booth, early decorated booth, most number of displayed products.

The provincial government will celebrate its 447th founding anniversary for the whole month of August with a theme “Serbisyo nga Tinud-anay, Kalamboan nga Tiunay.”

The opening of the anniversary will be done tomorrow at the Capitol grounds  starting with a procession headed by Governor Hilario Davide III and Vice Governor Agnes Magpale, along with city and municipal mayors, vice mayors, congressman and Provincial Board members. (FREEMAN)
