More vehicles for PRO-7
CEBU, Philippines - At least 106 motorcycles from Camp Crame arrived at the Police Regional Office-7 yesterday for distribution to the different police stations in the region.
These were part of the 147 motorcycles promised by the national police headquarters to PRO-7 to boost its mobility and capability.
PRO-7 director Chief Superintendent Noli Taliño said the motorcycles will be distributed to the 126 police stations in Central Visayas.
Taliño said the motorcycles will be of great help especially in the mountain barangays where access is limited. Earlier, PRO-7 also received 21 Mahindra vehicles from Camp Crame. The vehicles, however, are yet to be distributed pending the memorandum receipt from the national headquarters.
"We are still waiting for the documents although may recipients na," Taliño said.
Taliño said the Mahindra vehicles will be useful in urban areas. Camp Crame provided vehicles to PRO-7 after Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña said he will no longer support the police following the relief of his police chief.
Osmeña protested the relief of Senior Superintendent Benjamin Santos without him being consulted. The mayor also stopped giving cash reward to policemen as well as allowance to those who were transferred to Cebu City. (FREEMAN)
