Alleged robber shot in Talisay

Iris Mariani B. Algabre - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - An alleged robber was shot and seriously injured in Barangay Tabunok, Talisay City yesterday morning.

Victim Eduardo “Ramil” Cabalda, 30, married and a resident of Sitio Molave in Barangay Tabunok, was shot by a certain “Poloy” who fled after the incident.

Investigation revealed that Cabalda was visiting his sister at her house in Sitio Mananga around 7 a.m. yesterday when the assailant reportedly appeared and shot him twice.

Cabalda suffered a gunshot wound to the left side of his body.

He was rushed to Talisay City District Hospital and was later referred to Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City due to his critical condition. Police said Cabalda’s lungs were affected by the shot.

Superintendent Germano Mallari, chief of Talisay City Police Station, said Cabalda is a known robber in the city and was previously implicated in a theft case.

According to Mallari, Cabalda would disguise himself as a motorcycle-for-hire driver and rob his passengers. The police chief said it is possible that the assailant could be one of Cabalda’s victims.

The police are still conducting further investigation to get the full identity of the suspect as well as his motive in the shooting. (FREEMAN)
