Guard charged for sexually assaulting girl, 6, in school

Banat

CEBU, Philippines - A 20-year-old security guard of a public school in Cebu City is now facing charges for sexually assaulting a six-year old girl inside the school.

The Cebu City Prosecutor's office filed a case before the Regional Trial Court against Angelbert Mira.

The incident happened last April 9 at about 8:45 a.m. inside San Nicholas Elementary School in Barangay Duljo-Fatima, Cebu City.

The girl alleged that she was getting some plastic containers when Mira brought her at the back of the school building and instructed her to take off her underwear.

The suspect then allegedly sexually assaulted the girl.

The girl’s grandmother later arrived after learning that she cried. She then allegedly saw blood in her granddaughter’s undergarment.

In her sworn statement, the grandmother, who serves as the child’s guardian, said she found her granddaughter crying in pain while sitting on the floor beside the restroom with the suspect standing beside her.

She asked her granddaughter what happened to which the girl answered that she was bleeding.

She then asked the suspect about it, but the latter denied having anything to do with it, saying the private part was already bleeding before he arrived.

They left the suspect and brought the girl to Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center.

On the way to the hospital, the victim allegedly whispered to her grandmother that Mira assaulted her. She went back to confront the suspect, but the latter insisted that he did nothing.

She went to the police station and reported the suspect.

The suspect was arrested and was charged for violating RA 8353 or the Anti-Rape Law. — (FREEMAN)
