SugBonanza brings services ‘closer’ to city constituents

CEBU, Philippines - Got to process a tax declaration? Your dog needs some spraying and vaccination? Seeking legal advice?

These and other services will be available at the Plaza Independencia tomorrow, Labor Day, as the Cebu City government holds“SugBonanza: The City of Services” in an attempt to be more accessible to the transacting public. 

Lawyer Rey Panugaling, city director for administration, said nine tents offering various services will be open for the general public. Some booths will not even require proof of residence, he said.

SugBonanza will kick off with a Mass and run from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will also be a Labor Day Run from Block 27 at the North Reclamation Area to the Plaza before services go full swing at 8 a.m.

City Treasurer’s Office will offer processing of honorarium for city drivers, loaders, tanods, lupon, barangay EO, and job order workers, as well as medical and burial assistance. 

City Assessor’s Office will issue tax declarations and certifications for property holdings, and certified true copies of tax declaration while City Budget Office will assist concerned barangays in the preparation of liquidation reports for city financial assistance and provide inputs to barangay treasurers on budget preparation and execution.

Department of Social Welfare Services will offer feeding, burial assistance distribution and medical financial assistance.

Department of Manpower Development and Placement will have an onsite demonstration on food processing, like chorizo and skinless making and flower arrangement. Cosmetology services like haircut, manicure and pedicure will be free.

City Health Depart-ment and Cebu City Medical Center will also organize Operation Tuli, free medical consultation forpedia and adult patients, free dental consultation, including oral prophylaxis (cleaning) and tooth extraction, vaccination and immunization of anti-pneumonia for senior citizens and tetanus Taxied vaccine and free laboratory and pharmacy services.

For pet owners, the Department of Veterinary Medicine and Fisheries will offer spraying and neutering of dogs and cats, free anti-rabies vaccination and livestock prevention, like deworming and vitamin supplementation.

City Legal office will offer free legal advice and preparation and notarization of documents while City Civil Registrar will entertain registration of Certificate of Live Birth, Certificate of Marriage, Certificate of Death, delayed registration of civil registry records, consultation on civil registration concerns like correction, acknow-ledgement or legitimation, adoption and other civil registration concerns

On the other hand, City Planning and Development Office will also issue locational clearances for building permit. — Iris Mariani B. Algabre/JMDildlife permit holders last week.

He said for this year, there have been no reports of animal deaths from the permit holders due to the El Niño. —(FREEMAN)
