Man bringing salary of fellow workers robbed, shot by 2 men

CEBU, Philippines - An employee of a tire company was injured after two unidentified robbers shot him on the chin after he resisted when they took his bag containing close to P50,000 of workers salary on Saturday morning in Don F. Sotto Drive, Barangay Kamputhaw Cebu City.

Rolando Puno, 34, of Poblacion, Danao City landed in the hospital after he was shot on the chin and robbed by two unidentified men.

Based on initial investigation, the victim was carrying his backpack while walking along Don F. Sotto Drive, Barangay Kamputhaw past 10 a.m. Saturday.

A few minutes later,  two robbers wearing bonnets and black jackets arrived and tried to grab his bag containing P49,977 cash for the salary of the workers in the tire company, pertinent documents and identification cards.

The victim tried to resist and fought back but one of the robbers shot him on the face.

The robbers took off with the bag and sped away on board a motorcycle towards Gorordo Avenue.

The victim was brought to Perpetual Succour Hospital for immediate medication.

In an interview with Police Officer 2 Philip Plasus, desk officer of Fuente Police Station, he said that based on the victim’s allegation, he believes that one of the robbers was a former security guard of the tire company.

The victim allegedly said that the security guard knows of his itinerary on where he gets the weekly salary from the office of their sister-company before heading to the tire company site.

The victim also alleged that he believes that the se-cond robber is also a former employee but was fired from the job.

But the police are still investigating the identity of the suspects based on the allegations.

When police officers examined the crime scene, no empty shells or slugs were recovered.

Senior Inspector David Señor, Theft and Robbery Section chief told The FREEMAN that Fuente Police had already coordinated with his office and TRS will assist them in the conduct of the investigation.  (FREEMAN)
