Twitter links users to healthcare professionals

Yasunari Ramon Suarez Taguchi - The Freeman

Practo - one of the world's leading electronic healthcare platforms - partnered with Twitter early this month in a bid to provide convenient healthcare access to all.

The partnership enables Twitter users to get real time answers to healthcare-related queries through the @AskPracto Twitter handle.

The handle is essentially an extension of the "Practo Consult" platform - a platform which connects individuals to the expert opinions of doctors via the internet or a mobile device (through an Android or iOS app).

Currently available in English, the Practo-Twitter integration is active in the Philippines, India and in Singapore. The integration is expected to cover more areas soon. More information about the integration is available via practo.com.

Indigogo-funded wearable alarm clock band

A wearable alarm clock band that's currently being funded on Indiegogo got the attention of netizens last week.

Named the "Shock Clock Wake Up Trainer" by Pavlok, the wearable device is primed to make morning persons out of night owls, designed to work incrementally with three sensory stimuli to wake its wearers at specific times.

Starting with soft vibrations which are followed by loud and irritating beeps, the device's third "step" or "phase" - should its wearer still not be awake - is a mild electric zap.

The device aims to train its wearers to already be awake by its "vibrations phase" - to get them conditioned to the idea that an electric zap will be following after its second "loud beeps phase."

The wearable alarm clock is developed by the same team that made the "Pavlok Break Bad Habits" wearable device in 2014. More information about Pavlok's "Shock Clock Wake Up Trainer" is available on indiegogo.com.

Telco offers prepaid-to-postpaid transition scheme

One of the country's leading telecommunications service providers recently rolled out a new service offering that provides seamless prepaid-to-postpaid transitions.

The new offering - billed the "Globe myStarter" plan - basically allows prepaid Globe subscribers to keep their mobile number should they decide to sign up for a postpaid subscription.

Positioned as a budget-friendly offering, "Globe myStarter" packages are available in Plan 300 and Plan 500 schemes - each designed as fixed monthly rate plans that can be topped-off with prepaid load credits if necessary.

More information about the new "Globe myStarter" plan and packages are available via globe.com.ph.
