New face, same place

Archie Modequillo - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines – In keeping with its corporate tradition of great food and ever-fresh ambiance, TGI Fridays at Ayala Center Cebu has recently geared up with a new look and feel. The makeover proved to be a right move, as evidenced by the noticeable increase in the restaurant's revenues - although the more commodious and visually cool premises are not the only reason for it, for sure.

The restaurant's new look consists of clean modern lines and modish disc ceiling. Accents like the Copper spun or large bronze droplights fuse well with the red decorative pendant lights, complementing the tanned wooden spindles and balusters. The new interiors also feature modern seating and cozy U-shaped couches.

Symbols depicting New York still mark the place.  TGI Fridays opened its first restaurant in the city state, at the corner of 1st Avenue and 63rd Street, in 1965. A Heritage Wall displays framed photographs that retell the journey of Alan Stillman, the man who founded the restaurant in the 60s. Some of these photos also represent mission statements that TGI Fridays carries with pride, excellence, commitment to serving good food and great service with a little dash of fun.

And since TGI Fridays is known globally for its skillful bartenders, a highlight of the store is the better and more modish bar. Here, guests can sit back, drink, eat and sip their favorite cocktails, and interact with the bartenders, who occasionally perform their breathtaking bottle-spinning and drink-flipping antics for the guests' entertainment.

TGI Fridays seem to have hit it very well in Cebu. The restaurant's clientele is a balanced mix of locals and foreigners, about 50-50.  Weekends are always the time for families, who come in troops that often fill up the house to the last seat.

Amid the nice physical changes, the mantra remains the same: "Fun dining and good times!" TGI Fridays serves the same popular favorites - delicious burgers, ribs, steaks and decadent desserts, all to be enjoyed via cheerful and efficient service.

For inquiries on the other new features and offerings of TGI Fridays, public relations officer Yna del Rosario may be reached thru phone number 0922-8210348 or via her email address at [email protected].
