CCCI starting to hone young business leaders

Ehda Dagooc - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) is now starting to hone young business leaders to get involved in Cebu’s business community.

This is part of CCCI's new direction of making the chamber much more relevant to its members and the community, said CCCI president Melanie C. Ng.

According to Ng, as the business landscape is currently played by growing number young entrepreneurs, and existing businesses are undergoing transition from one generation to the next, the chamber is also adjusting to this profound movement.

Gradually, she said Cebu will see fresher and young leaders get involved in crafting advocacies and programs the chamber will tackle in this young generation driven economy.

This is part of CCCI's priority re-alignment, responding to the different way of doing business, wherein technology and new business paradigm play a vital role in pumping the economy.

The Chamber's new set of officers under Ng's leadership recently concluded its first strategic meeting to introduce new priorities and program that will serve as the roadmap of the Chamber in the next couple of years.

A strategic meeting was recently held with executive committee members from all sectors, and other officers, including experts, to revisit the chamber's priorities in order to be more effective as an organization, and put the organization in the right perspective.

Ng, along with other members of the executive committee, are responding to the pressing call of its members to balance its role as a business chamber in servicing its members, as well as the society in general.

"We will align all our services, projects and advocacies to come up with a more cohesive work-plan, while building relationship with members, reinforce partnerships with various partner organizations, local government units and government agencies and roll out a comprehensive integrated information and marketing plan for the benefit of the chamber members," Ng said.

Now on its 113th year, CCCI will re-invent itself to accommodate the modern business culture and usher the new and young breed of entrepreneurs to the broader venue of leadership and service.

Ng hopes that this call will be heard and get favorable response from the younger set of businessmen in Cebu, urging them to be proactive and socially conscious. — (FREEMAN)
