CEBU, Philippines - Melanie Ng, chief financial officer of Ng Khai Development Corporation, is the new president of Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI).

Ng is the second lady president to lead Cebu's largest business organization, following the exit of Ma. Teresa Chan who was in command for the male-dominated business organization in the last two years.

Ng has been an active officer of CCCI over the years, having  served as head for business development services, board of trustee, and other important positions.

Commenting on her new position, Ng said, “It is a great honor to be given the opportunity to lead the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry together with a stellar group of Officers and Trustees who represent the various sectors of Cebu's business community.

Also regarded as power retail lady, Ng  is the former president of the Philippine Retailers Association (PRA-Cebu). She is currently one of the officers of the Mactan Cebu International Airport Authority (MCIAA).

In an interview with outgoing CCCI president Chan yesterday, she said she expects a seamless leadership under Ng. The  two ladies have worked together in different advocies and programs initiated by the chamber.

"She knows what’s going on. She knows what to do, the chamber is in good hands," said Chan immediately after the CCCI board of trustees elected Ng as the new president.

"I look forward to a more dynamic chamber under Melanie and more use of technological apps she being tech savvy and our website now in place. She is a perfect choice to lead the chamber especially at this point that Cebu and Cebu chamber need to keep up with rapid economic growth and progress.”  (FREEMAN)
