Duterte expected to lead Kagitingan rites tomorrow
MANILA, Philippines - President Duterte is expected to attend the 75th commemoration of Araw ng Kagitingan at Mt. Samat Shrine in Pilar, Bataan tomorrow.
The Department of Education (DepEd) and Department of National Defense will lead various activities as part of the observance of the Day of Valor.
DepEd officials, teachers and students will join the activity in Bataan.
Education stakeholders took part in the tribute for Filipino war veterans on Corregidor Island yesterday.
A wreath-laying ceremony was also held at the Libingan ng mga Bayani in Taguig, followed by a tribute to the veterans at the Philippine Army headquarters.
Overtime pay
Meanwhile, employees who will work tomorrow will receive overtime pay, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said yesterday.
The DOLE said workers would be paid 200 percent of their salary for the first eight hours of work.
Employees will get an additional 30 percent of their hourly rate for overtime work in excess of eight hours.
The DOLE said those who would not report to work would still be paid 100 percent of their salary.
Malacañang has declared April 9 a holiday in honor of the gallantry of the Filipinos who fought during World War II.
