Torregosa, Kenyans rule maiden Governor’s Zero Hunger Run
CEBU, Philippines — Southeast Asian (SEA) Games silver medalist Artjoy Torregosa secured the women’s crown while the Kenyans led by Eric Chepsiror pulled a clean sweep in the men’s 21K of the inaugural Governor’s Zero Hunger Run on Sunday, August 2, at the Cebu Provincial Capitol grounds.
Torregosa, a Philippine team member, clocked in one hour, 32 minutes and 16.92 seconds to clinch the women’s 21K title.
Kay Razel Cundangan placed second in 1:44:30, with Josephine Rodriguez winding up third in 1:50:08. April Joy Rapiz (2:01:16) and Addygel Mie Truz (2:01:21) occupied the fourth and fifth spots.
Chepsiror, on the other hand, edged his compatriot Daniel Boiwo by 24 seconds to reign supreme in the men’s 21K. Chepsiror posted the fastest time of 1:12:59 while Boiwo registered 1:13:23.
Luka Lagat settled for third in 1:14:27 to seal the Kenyans’ domination. Pomeroy John Veloso (1:29:20) and Temistocles de la Concepcion (1:35:54) rounded out the top five.
In the 12K distance, the top three winners were Mark Mahinay (38:30.79), Franklin Yee (39:20.46) and Anthony Orellano (40:35.02) in the men’s and Lynnel Martus (47:50.93), Mary Rose Frias (50:31.39), and Xyrah Alfury Atis (52:54.78) in the women’s category.
The Top 3 in the 6K were Jacob Cagomoc (21:59.43), Daryl Tanucan (22:28.35) and McJone Sayre (22:54.40) in the men’s and Jasrain Mizzy Noval (25:08.60),Hannah Juarez (29:56.71) and Rhian Hope Galamiton (31:19.09) in the women’s class.
The other top performers were Jean Emard Valmoria (9:01.81) and Jane Pangalao (11:12.21) in the 3K and
