Nephew falls, uncle escapes in buy-bust

The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - A Level 3 drug pusher was arrested by the operatives of the City Intelligence Branch in a buy-bust operation on Thursday afternoon in Sitio Calubihan, Barangay Umapad, Mandaue City.

Getson Baclohan Alilin, 20, single and a resident of the said place, was arrested after he allegedly handed to a police decoy one small pack of shabu in exchange for P300.

After his arrest, police conducted a body frisk on him wherein another two small packs of suspected shabu and a .22 caliber revolver were seized.

According to P/Supt. Josefino Ligan, chief of the CIB, a shooting incident occurred during the arrest of Alilin because their supposed target was his uncle Edgar Alilin.

Ligan said although Getson is also in their watchlist as he was considered a Level 3 drug pusher in the area, the said buy-bust was aimed at his uncle because the transaction was between Edgar and the police decoy.

However, Getson was the one who handed the drugs to the decoy, police said.

Upon seeing that his nephew was arrested, Edgar then reportedly started shooting at the police operatives and succeeded in fleeing.

Getson is considered a Level 3 drug pusher in the area because based on police monitoring, he can dispose at least five grams of illegal drugs per week.

The suspect is presently detained at Opao Police Station pending the filing of charges for violation of the Section 11 and Section 5 of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act and charges of illegal possession of firearms. — Flor Z. Perolina (FREEMAN)
