Towns open one-stop shop for biz permit processing

CEBU, Philippines - With local government units establishing one-stop shop, businessmen in Liloan and Consolacion may now find business permit processing convenient.

The municipalities have assured respective business operators that good service will be given to them and the release of their business papers will be fast-tracked.

With the increasing number of residents renewing their business permits and others securing new permits, municipal officials of Liloan and Consolacion have decided to adopt steps to address the problem.

Starting last January 7, Mayor Vincent Franco “Duke” Frasco established the Business-One-Stop Shop in Liloan town.

Under the scheme, those who want to renew their business permits or secure business permits will now transact in just one place at the municipal hall, specifically on the building’s second floor.

Frasco said the taxpayers play an important role in the town’s development.

In Consolacion town, Mayor Teresa Alegado also directed the Municipal Treasurer’s Office to make sure that taxpayers will be given good service.

Employees at the Municipal Treasurer’s Office have been tasked to implement the directives of Alegado.

Meanwhile, Consolacion residents have been asked to avail of the 10 percent discount on real property taxes.

Lot owners in Consolacion are given until March to pay their real property taxes, which is subject to 10 percent discount.

Taxpayers who fail to pay until March 2015 will face penalty and the charges, it was learned. (FREEMAN)
