CEBU, Philippines - A man was shot to death by a 17-year- old minor last Friday evening in Sitio Saac in Barangay Buaya, Lapu-Lapu City Friday evening.

Wilmar Pontaños, 34, a stonemason and a resident of the said place, was pronounced dead on arrival at the Lapu-Lapu City Hospital after he was shot at around 9:45 in the evening near the vicinity of the Saac Public Market.

It was learned that the victim was engaged in a heated argument with his stepbrother Rolando Metedios, 44, married due to a personal matter.

While they were in the middle of their verbal tussle, the suspect suddenly appeared and stayed behind the back of the victim then took an undetermined caliber of firearm and, without any provocation, shot the victim once on the back of his head, which caused his death.

The suspect was reported to have quickly left the crime scene.

A hot pursuit operation was conducted against the suspect but failed to arrest him.

A murder case is now being prepared against the minor suspect even if he remains at large.  (FREEMAN)
