CEBU, Philippines - Father and son Dadong and Jonel Carcueva reigned supreme in the two-stage Uling Road Race Classic in Uling, Naga yesterday.

The older Dadong Carcueva outsmarted Boy Pagnanawon for the overall yellow jersey in the 40-above category after ruling Stage 2, a grueling 52-kilometer road race starting at the South General Hospital in Naga passing through Ilihan in Toledo City and back to Uling in Naga.

Former Tour ng Pilipinas champion Rolando 'Boy' Pagnanawon won stage one but only landed third behind Carcueva and Rey Erasmo.

Philip Sainz and Jun Cabugwason took the second two spots, while Wendell Abastillas, Haylin Bardaje, Freddie Perez, Roger Lastimoso and Ome Rodriguez rounded up the Top 10.

On the other hand, Dadong's son Jonel annihilated the field, forcing a breakaway that nobody can follow. The top elite rider of Cebu soloed to victory in the 39-below age group.

Amon Espinosa wound up second followed by Emmanuel Pedroza, Itok de la Torre and Metchel Pilapil. Making it to the Top 10 were Johnny Sevillejo, Jemboy Butad, Jesrel Centino, Mikel Mier and Paeng Amorganda.

In the overall classification, Jonel Carcueva grabbed the 39-below title followed by Amon Espinosa and Paeng Amorganda, while the 40-above class saw Dadong Carcueva snaring the crown, with Boy Pagnanawon and Philip Sainz finishing second and third.

Sixteen-year-old cyclist Ana Patricia Maximo powered by YKKBikes, successfully completed the tough Stage 2 climbing road race.
