CEBU, Philippines – Close to 500 runners are expected to participate in the “Run for LOVE” slated on February 14 at the Mactan Newtown grounds in Lapu-Lapu City.

The race features 5K and 3K Open and 5K and 3K couples category.

More than the competition, participants get a chance to help the Sto. Niño de Cebu-Mactan Parish as proceeds of the event will go to the Parish which will be celebrating their annual fiesta on the third week of February.

“Aside from the competition, we also want to show love that is why we called out Run for Love. This will be done during the Valentines and we want the runners to share love, care to participate and care to help the church,” said Sto. Niño Mactan Montessori School Inc. assistant director Francisco Barcelo.

Sunshine Lim, the school’s executive director said that they are targeting around 500 participants coming from the school itself, parishioners and visiting runners.

“We chose the date because we want to provide a healthy way to celebrate Valentines,” Lim added.

Cash prizes and medals await the top three finishers in each category.

Registration fee is pegged at P350 for the individual run and P600 for the couple’s race inclusive of singlet, race bib and post-race refreshments. Entry forms are available at the Sto. Niño Mactan Montessori School Inc. campus and in Sto. Niño de Cebu-Mactan Parish.  (FREEMAN)
