Mitchelle L. Palaubsanon - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — The Department of Labor and Employment-7 has disclosed that as of April 21, at least 5,000 job vacancies are up for grabs in the Labor Day Job Fairs on May 1.

Two job fairs will be simultaneously held in Cebu City and in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental to facilitate employment vacancies from 50 participating businesses.

DOLE-7 Regional Director Lilia A. Estillore urged jobseekers to pre-register online in order not to be caught in the influx of people joining the job fairs.

The job fair in Cebu City will be at the Robinsons Galleria Cebu Atrium Mall Area from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Estillore reminded the applicants to get ready with their updated resume, biodata, certificates of employment (if applicable), ballpoint pens, alcohol and other pre-employment documentary requirements.

For the Cebu City job fair, other services that will be available are the following: One-Stop-Shop Services of partner-agencies; TESDA Booth offering the registration of various scholarship programs and skills demonstration; DTI’s one-on-one Business Advisory and Business Registration; Employment Counseling Booth by DOLE-7 and the People Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP-Cebu Chapter); Labor Education and Livelihood Desk by DOLE-7; and Self-pampering Services by Cebu City’s Department of Manpower Development and Placement (DMDP).

One very important feature of the Job Fair is the Kadiwa Ng Pangulo located on the 3rd Floor of Robinsons Galleria.

Sellers of various products and farm produce courtesy of the Department of Agriculture (DA) will be available to the public at low prices.

The Kadiwa Ng Pangulo as well as the provision of One-Stop-Shop Services will also be available in Negros Oriental particularly at the Lamberto Macias Sports Complex, Dumaguete City, where the job fair will be held on May 1.

For this year, the 121st Labor Day celebration is anchored on the theme, “Pabahay, Bilihing Abot-Presyo, Benepisyo ng Matatag na Trabaho Para sa Manggagawang Pilipino.” (FREEMAN)
