CEBU, Philippines — The Police Regional Office 7 (PRO-7) yielded significant results during their recent week-long anti-criminality operations, seizing over ?6.1 million worth of illegal drugs and arresting at least 419 suspects.

From November 23 to 29, around 900 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated value of ?6,173,200 were recovered by police.

The said drugs were intercepted from 193 drug suspects who were arrested during the 170 buy-bust operations carried out across the region.

Additionally, another 23 individuals were also apprehended after being confiscated with 51 loose firearms, 88 rounds of ammunition, and an explosive.

Meanwhile, a total of 149 wanted suspects were caught through a series of manhunt operations conducted by the police. Of the figure, 37 were tagged as most wanted persons, including nine at the regional level, 17 at the provincial level, one at the city level, and 10 at the municipal level.

On the campaign against illegal gambling activities, 54 violators were put behind bars after being confiscated with more than ?10,000 in suspected bet money.

In a statement, PRO-7 said that operations against such illicit activities like gambling are crucial as these can “often fuel crime in communities”.

PRO-7 credited the successful police operations to the police’s relentless efforts in sustaining the peace and order throughout Central Visayas. — (FREEMAN)
