Road closures, rerouting today

Caecent No-ot Magsumbol - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu City Transportation Office (CCTO) has announced temporary road closures and traffic rerouting measures in anticipation of two major public events scheduled for today (August 31): the “Pasundayag sa Pagtuo” Grand Procession, and the SK Federation’s “Sayaw sa Kabataan” parade.

Both events are anticipated to attract large crowds and lead to significant traffic disruptions throughout major city roads.

The first event, Pasundayag sa Pagtuo, will start at 12:00 PM, with the procession beginning at the Cebu Provincial Capitol.

Participants will begin their journey heading north along Osmeña Boulevard. They will loop around Fuente Osmeña Circle before continuing onto Gen. Maxilom Avenue.

The route will further extend onto M.J. Cuenco Avenue, concluding at Plaza Independencia.

The 4.5-kilometer route will be closed to all vehicles during the event, with officials stationed along this route to direct motorists and ensure public safety.

At 1:00 PM, the SK Federation Sayaw sa Kabataan Parade will begin at the National Museum, proceeding along Pigafetta Street and then turning right onto M.C. Briones Street.

The parade will proceed by making a right turn onto D. Jakosalem Street, followed by a left turn onto Osmeña Boulevard. Finally, it will make another left turn onto R.R. Landon Street, leading to the Cebu City Sports Center, which will serve as the main venue for performances and festivities.

Motorists are strongly advised to avoid the affected roads during the event hours and to plan alternative routes to minimize delays.

The CCTO assures the public that traffic personnel will be deployed at all critical junctions to maintain order and assist with navigation. — (FREEMAN)
