CEBU, Philippines — Dance researcher Cesar Nimor and hotelier Agripina Guivelondo is set to lead the awardees in Cebu City’s 88th Charter Day celebration on Feb. 24.

Nimor and Guivelondo got the City Council’s nod as this year’s Most Outstanding Individuals in the city.

The University of Cebu, on the other hand, is set to get the Most Outstanding Institution award alongside dyRF radio as reported by the City’s Public Information Office.

This is based on the recommendations from the City’s Cultural and Historical Affairs Commission (CHAC).

Several others are also expected to get the Mayor’s Special Award. These include the City’s Barangay Fire Brigade, the JCI Zugboana Cebu Chapter along with award-winning Salvador Arguelles Toong III and former city councilor Carmelita Ladia Piramide.

Award-wining photographer Toong and Piramide will spearhead this year’s awardees for the 88th Charter Day celebration.

Toong, though, already a veteran photographer having won several contests in the past, became more well-known after winning the grand prize of the 2024 edition of Scott Kelby Worldwide Photo Walk Contest.

Piramide, on the other hand, is mostly credited for her work done via the Kapamilya Negosyo Na, Inc.

City Councilor Joel Garganera also pushed for the inclusion of the Barangay Behavioral Health Unit of Barangay Lahug to be included as part of the nominees for the Mayor’s Special Award.

Barangay Lahug’s initiative for mental health had been recognized in the “Gawad Galing Pook Awards” last year.
