Security
Meanwhile, police continue to beef up security near the vaccination sites to address possible crime and untoward incidents.
Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) Police Station 2 personnel secured the vaccination site in Robinsons Cybergate, wherein a light commotion happened following the influx of individuals who wanted to be vaccinated Monday morning.
Police Major Armando Labora, station commander, said there was also light commotion on the second day.
“Dili lang gyud siguro magkasinabtananay kay daghan man gud nagpa-vaccine karon,” said Labora.
Labora said the commotion was triggered when the individuals didn't clearly understand where they would line up.
But he added it was immediately controlled since there were several police personnel deployed in the area, along with force multipliers under the Task Force Kasaligan.
There are five vaccination sites under the jurisdiction of the police station. Labora assessed that the site in Robinson Cybergate was observed to have the most influx of individuals since it is located at the center of the city.
“Sa linya, naay nag walk-in,wala nagpa-register, very common nga misunderstanding basta daghan og tawo ba. Naay uban sa pwesto nga naay mosingit (on the lines),” said Labora.
There are three police personnel deployed to man the vaccination site. There is also a mobile patrol on standby and five members of Task Force Kasaligan.
Labora also admitted that there were times that the situation could get out of control which resulted in compromising the minimum health standard protocols.
“Naa gyuy usahay ma-violate tungod na sa kadaghan usahay bitaw pero gipaningkamotan nato nga mahan-ay gyud. Dira sa gawas gyud anaay magsikit-sikit, pero sulod mahan-ay na kay naa namay bangko, pero diri sa gawas atong paningkamotan nga dili gyud ta magpasingit,” said Labora.
Labora appealed to the public to also check with other vaccination sites to avoid getting into the long lines that may cause another commotion. — Iris Hazel M. Mascardo, Le Phyllis F. Antojado, Decemay P. Padilla, JMD (FREEMAN)
