Deped-7 on module errors: Nobody’s perfect

CEBU, Philippines — Department of Education-7 Director Salustiano Jimenez yesterday came to the defense of teachers saying that reports about errors found in the modules distributed to students are inevitable because “we are not perfect and nobody is perfect”.
In an interview with The FREEMAN, Jimenez appealed to parents, guardians and stakeholders to stop sharing the modules containing mistakes through Facebook as this will put the teachers and the DepEd itself on mockery. Instead, he said the problem should be addressed directly to the concerned teachers.
Jimenez said that nobody is perfect and if the parents wanted to correct the mistakes in the modules, posting about it on Facebook is not the solution. In fact, he said it could be that the errors were purposely made by some individuals who just wanted to put DepEd in shame.
Bring it to the attention of the concerned teachers aron ma-address dayon ang maong sayop. We do not tolerate mistakes. All we have to do is to correct those mistakes,” Jimenez added.
DepEd has adopted the blended learning as classes in public schools began last October 5, 2020. Instead of the usual face-to-face classes, the department is using modules for the students to study and answer.
These modules, Jimenez said, were made by teacher-writers, superintendents, master teachers, among others.
Jimenez reminded the public that nobody was prepared to face the pandemic with all its challenges, fears and all other concerns. He said mocking the education department at this point is not the best thing to do.
“This situation is a lesson learned for all of us. We will make this weakness as our strength and move on,” the regional head said.
