48 relieved cops complete moral recovery program

Ermida Q. Moradas - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — Forty-eight relieved police officers from different precincts in Cebu have completed the two-month moral recovery program and retraining.

The police officers were formerly assigned in the cities of Toledo and Danao, among others but were relieved for misconduct.

They allegedly committed various infractions in the performance of their duties like committing serious neglect, grave misconduct, and even being absent without leave.

The police officers were reassigned to the Provincial Holding and Accounting Unit (PHAU) of the Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO) following their relief.

CPPO Spokesperson Virgilio Bayon-on said the personnel underwent a reorientation and retraining on moral enhancement through spiritual sharing.

The 48 personnel composed the second batch of the program, which aims to instill the value of righteousness and integrity among the erring police officers.

"Second batch na ni sila niya ang uban kay kato pa ning ato nahatagan og memo during sa inspection sa different stations mga light offenses lang," said Bayon-on.

The police officers, who finished the program last Wednesday, are now dubbed as "Form Police," which stands for Focused Reorientation /Retraining for Moral Enhancement for Police Officers in line with Internal Cleaning Efforts.

The moral recovery program, however, is not only limited to the relieved cops but to all personnel of the CCPO.

Bayon-on said the police officers will be assigned in a new police community precinct.

"I-download na ni sila ang uban katong mga light offenses lang but dili na didto sa ilang station nga asa sila gikan. Kung ma-deploy na sila dako og ikatabang sa mga stations nga nagkinahanglan og personnel," he said.

He reminded all cops to do well and expect appropriate penalties for wrongdoings.

To monitor the performance and attendance of police officers, he said, inspection will be intensified.

"This is to ensure that all policemen follow the mandates, including the proper wearing of uniforms and the attendance, of the national headquarters. — KBQ  (FREEMAN)
